Ecological Workshops for Employees’ Children: Practical Education and Biodiversity Stewardship

On August 29, 2026, our company hosted ecological workshops for our employees’ children. The meeting focused on biodiversity and the importance of pollinating insects for the natural environment. This initiative provided an opportunity to combine employee and family integration with practical environmental education. It is one example of the activities carried out by ELKOM TRADE in the area of environmental and social responsibility.

Learning through practical action

During the workshops, children personally prepared insect hotels, while learning about the role of pollinating insects in the ecosystem. Participants learned, among other things, why protecting insect habitats is important for preserving biological diversity and what simple actions can be taken in their immediate surroundings to support nature.

We wanted ecological education to be primarily practical. Building the insect hotels themselves allowed the children not only to gain knowledge but also to see that even small actions can support local ecosystems.

I wanted the children not only to hear about the importance of pollinating insects but also to be able to do something themselves that could support nature. Practical action helps to better understand that environmental protection starts with everyday, often very simple decisions. I am glad that we could collectively create a space for learning, creativity
and good fun
– emphasizes Magdalena Sałek, who was the originator and organizer of the event for the youngest participants. The workshops were also an opportunity to show the youngest that caring for the environment does not have to be limited to large projects. Actions taken locally – at home, in the garden, at work, or in the immediate surroundings – are also important – she adds.

Employee Engagement and Management Support

Environmental education activities are part of a broader approach to responsible business conduct.

Environmental and social responsibility is part of how we want to develop our company. Initiatives involving our employees and their families are particularly valuable because they help build environmental awareness beyond the workplace. Such actions complement our initiatives related to sustainable development and environmental care – emphasizes Tomasz Jarosz, Member of the Management Board of Elkom Trade.

Responsibility begins with awareness

At Elkom Trade, we aim to develop an organizational culture based on responsibility, cooperation, and a conscious approach to the company’s impact on its surroundings.

Therefore, in addition to activities directly related to production processes, logistics, or reducing environmental impact, we also undertake educational initiatives involving our employees and the local community. The workshops for children were another opportunity to translate these values into concrete action.

We thank Magdalena Sałek for the idea, preparation, and execution of the workshops, and all the children and parents for participating in the event. It was a day full of creativity, collaboration, and a very practical lesson in environmental care.
