On Friday, September 18, we briefly changed our daily work rhythm. We shortened the workday, and at 2:00 PM, ELKOM TRADE S.A. employees left their desks and workstations to collectively take care of our immediate surroundings.
This time, our focus was on the forest and areas near our headquarters in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.
Equipped with bags and gloves, we jointly cleaned up the forest and areas adjacent to our headquarters, which we pass every day on our way to work. It is from our immediate surroundings that we want to begin our environmental activities – with concrete, local initiatives in which our entire team can get involved.
Environmental responsibility doesn’t end with production; it starts with us.
We view environmental actions more broadly than just through the lens of production processes. Reducing the impact of the company’s operations on the environment, responsible resource management, and engaging employees in environmental initiatives are all elements of our approach to responsible business.
Joint cleanups are not a one-off event for us. For years, usually twice a year, the ELKOM TRADE team has organized cleanups of various locations in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. Over time, it has become a permanent part of our activities and an opportunity to collectively do something tangible for the place where we work every day.
Our local activities also include initiatives supporting nature and biodiversity. We install birdhouses, and we have also planted a forest on the premises of our headquarters. We want environmental care to be reflected not only in how we conduct business but also in actions taken beyond our daily duties.
As Tomasz Piersa, President of the Management Board of ELKOM TRADE S.A., emphasizes: “Caring for our immediate surroundings is already part of our daily routine. For years, usually twice a year, we collectively go out to clean various places in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. We do not treat this as a one-off event, but as one of the actions through which we want to genuinely impact our local environment. We approach other initiatives similarly – we install birdhouses, and we have planted a forest on the premises of our headquarters. We want environmental responsibility to be visible not only in declarations but, above all, in what we actually do as a company and as a team.”
Small Actions That Build Awareness
Such initiatives also have an educational dimension for us. Collective action draws attention to how daily decisions affect our environment and helps build awareness that environmental responsibility is a shared task for the entire organization.
We thank all employees who, on that day, exchanged their daily duties for collective action for the local environment.
